Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has emerged in a strong position after last week. However, the chatter around his future at the club has not gone away yet.

The 3-3 draw against Liverpool and the 3-1 win against Chelsea, both at Elland Road, have shut down Farke’s critics who were demanding his dismissal even a week back.

Leeds were in the doldrums, but four points from their last two league games have lifted the team out of the relegation zone, and they are up to 16th in the table.

However, the chatter around Farke’s future has not gone away despite Gary Neville insisting that the board have no reason to sack him following the last two results.

The Leeds United stance on sacking Daniel Farke has been clarified

Experienced former scout Mick Brown has claimed that the German is safe at Leeds for the moment. However, he insisted that the job was not under threat last season.

Brown stressed that regardless of the result against Liverpool, the 49ers were always going to stick with Farke as they wanted him to stay at Elland Road.

He indicated that the Leeds manager has helped himself by showing tactical flexibility and changing the system, which has made his side more organised.

“Daniel Farke is going to be safe in his job for now, that’s no surprise”, he told Football Insider.

“Regardless of the Liverpool result, I think they would’ve been happy for him to stay in the job.

“They have to be realistic about their chances this season. I don’t think he saved his job just because of those results, because they were always going to be tough games.

“It would’ve been unrealistic to expect any results, so taking four points from games against Chelsea, Man City, and Liverpool is a fantastic outcome for Leeds.

“But the board have always been keen to stick with the manager, they made that decision in the summer when they decided to keep him on.

“This change of tactic has made them much more pragmatic and structured, that’s something I felt they had been missing this season.

“They’re not quite as disjointed as I have seen them in the past, and that’s because of these tweaks, so he deserves a lot of praise for what he’s done recently.”

The 49ers have always backed Farke

Farke was the 49ers’ appointment when they took control of Leeds in 2023, and they trusted him to get them back to the Premier League following relegation.

They backed him a year later when Leeds lost the playoff final and ensured that he got the squad needed to return Leeds to the top flight the following season.

The 49ers even considered replacing him in the summer when there were suggestions that the club needed a more proven Premier League manager.

Draws 27
Losses 28

However, the club still decided to go into the Premier League season with Farke as he had huge credit in his bank for earning promotion through a record-breaking Championship campaign.

A run of poor form was never going to be enough for the club’s patience to snap, and Farke was always going to get some more time to fix the issues.

The 49ers appeared to have been rewarded for being patient with the manager, and now they need to back him with funds in the January transfer window.
