Big Leeds United injury development

Leeds United brought in a number of players in the summer to retool the squad for another promotion push.

Last season, the Whites finished third in the league with 90 points but lost the Championship playoff final to Southampton.

Daniel Farke had the opportunity to reshape the squad this summer with the number of departures. Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville all left the club for the Premier League. Gray had a breakout season for his boyhood club, and won Leeds’ Young Player of the Year award. His performances also earned him a spot in the EFL Championship Team of the Year. Summerville and Rutter contributed 49 goals and assists last year too.

Daniel Farke went into this summer needing reinforcements and got the likes of Joe Rothwell, Ao Tanaka, Isaac Schmidt, Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon.

So far some of the summer signings have delivered, while others have not shown their best yet. Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have been an impressive midfield duo in the absence of Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev. Isaac Schmidt has barely played this season and has been told to “step up” by Daniel Farke, if he wants to play games. Manor Solomon started his season with promise but has now lost his spot in the team.

Largie Ramazani has had three goals and one assist in his six starts this season. The winger has looked every bit the star signing this summer. However an unfortunate injury against Watford in October has seen him on the sidelines.

Just this week, Ramazani has given Leeds fans hope after he posted on his Instagram that he is back training in boots.

Daniel Farke initially said the winger would be out for an extended period:

“He twisted his ankle,”

“It’s a serious ligament injury. He doesn’t need surgery but he will be out for four to six weeks. Thank god we have Daniel James back and Manor Solomon. It’s good to have them as options. We also have Joe Gelhardt in the forward positions.”

It now looks like the Belgian is back ahead of schedule and could be back in the team soon.

Ramazani return would be a huge boost

Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto have been great this season, and Ramazani has also been good. With the upcoming schedule over the next month, Leeds United would need all hands on deck. A healthy Ramazani would be a great weapon for Daniel Farke.
