Big money Leeds United signing issues confident statement after ‘tough’ defeat

Leeds United fans would not like to relive the events of Saturday. Daniel Farke’s side were away from home to a Fulham side who had failed to record a win in the league this season.

And the game looked in the balance for most of the 90 minutes. Leeds had an upper hand in the first half where they created some decent chances. In the second half, Fulham grew into the game. Marco Silva’s substitutions saw the London side put more pressure on the Whites, forcing very good saves from Karl Darlow. In the end, it took an own goal to decide the tie for Fulham.

A corner kick deflected off Gabriel Gudmundsson’s head into the back of his own net. There was little time for Leeds to recover from that as the final whistle blew.

Leeds put up a very good fight in the game, and would have ended up with a point if it was not for the unfortunate error in the end. Daniel Farke’s tactics worked for a large part of the game thanks to the industry in midfield.

The trio or Ampadu, Stach and Longstaff spent most of the game defending and covering ground. Stach showed why Leeds signed him this summer as he put in a solid display on Saturday. After the devastating loss, he took to Instagram after the game.

Stach wrote: “Tough loss, but we keep pushing” on Sunday evening.

Leeds United star has had a great start to the season

Everyone knew what they were getting with Stach when he arrived – a solid defensive presence in midfield who gives a lot of dynamism. What people did not expect was how good he was on the ball. The German ranked second in the Premier League for chances created during the international break.

Graham Smyth was pleasantly surprised when he saw the statistic:

“Does it surprise you that Anton Stach is placed number two in the Premier League’s chances created table? Only Bruno Fernandes has got more chance created this season than Anton Stach.

“That baffled me. And they haven’t been big chances, you know, like the big golden ones that a player has to absolutely put away. But even the fact he’s created 10, I know he takes set pieces, too, that surprised me a little bit. I think I’d struggle to think of 10 chances we’ve had this season.”
