A quiet start to the transfer window has now exploded for Leeds United. The West Yorkshire club announced their first arrival of the summer on Sunday.
Leeds confirmed the addition of German forward Lukas Nmecha. The former Wolfsburg man will officially join the club on 1st July, after his contract with the Bundesliga side expires. The 26-year old becomes a huge addition for the Whites ahead of next season.
Nmecha’s arrival comes as good news after the club lost a player this week. Multiple reports expect Junior Firpo to turn down a new deal at Elland Road to join Real Betis next month. Leeds had given the 28-year old a new contract offer weeks ago, but it looks like he will continue his football elsewhere.

The Whites could complete another deal soon. When the transfer window opened, a trio of young players were made available for sale as Leeds eyed some profit. Darko Gyabi, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood are all expected to leave the club this summer.
According to EFL Analysis, Birmingham City and Wrexham have showed interest in a move for Joe Gelhardt. The forward earned plaudits in the second half of last season, netting five goals for Hull City to help them survive relegation. Gelhardt was expected to seal a move to the Tigers, but a managerial change scuppered plans.
A host of Championship clubs are also expected to follow up on their interest in the 23-year old.
Time for Gelhardt to move on
Leeds have already made their stance on the forward clear this summer. Hopefully, now that there is interest in him, a deal can be completed. Gelhardt has been extremely unlucky in his career at Elland Road, and could have become a first team star if things went his way. The forward now has a chance to kickstart his career at a club that prioritizes him.
