Birmingham City show shock interest in Leeds United star – player already linked with exit

This summer has come at a crucial time for many Leeds United players. With the Premier League coming up, a lot of decisions will need to be made concerning the squad.

The 49ers have made their ambition known in the transfer window. With their targets, and players they have been linked with, it looks like a lot of quality will be brought in. Lukas Nmecha was announced on Sunday; the German joined the club on a free transfer.

It looks like this early part of the transfer window will be focused on moving players, before more signings are added. Reports have already revealed that Illan Meslier, Max Wober, Joe Gelhardt, Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood are among those set to leave.

The last week saw interest in some players at the club. Wrexham and Birmingham City were linked with a move for Joe Gelhardt. And now, the Blues are reportedly keen on another player at Elland Road.

According to Neil Moxley, Birmingham City also hold some interest in Mateo Joseph. The forward has been targeted by multiple clubs across Europe this summer. Joseph’s stock continues to rise after his performances at the ongoing U21 European Championships.

Real Betis have been pushing to sign the 21-year old since January, with the Conference League finalists keen on securing a deal this summer.

Leeds need to decide Mateo Joseph’s future

Does the club let him go, or keep him for another season. It has become a serious dilemma that could affect the club in the future. Joseph is a very talented player, but his limited minutes are not great for his development. And it looks like Daniel Farke will not fully trust him in a starting role.

Leeds now have a big decision to make in the coming weeks.
