Leeds United have been linked with Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer. An initial bid was rejected by the Blades. The midfielder is ready to move to Elland Road according to new reports.
Now reports suggest that the midfielder has agreed to personal terms with Leeds United despite the two clubs being miles apart in the transfer fee. GiveMeSport sources claim that Leeds have a personal package prepared for Hamer if Sheffield United agree to the transfer fee.
Daniel Farke and Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe are hard at work on further additions before Friday’s 11pm deadline.
Blades boss rubbishes Gustavo Hamer bid
According to Alan Nixon, Leeds United made a £13million bid for Gustavo Hamer which was rejected. Sheffield United reportedly want £18million for their star player.
When the bid came in for Hamer, Blades boss Chris Wilder said in a press conference that it was a “million miles off”:
“There have been a couple of bids for players; one was pretty close and another was a million miles off. If and when decisions on players get made by the board then I’ll get notified and we have to have a plan and be ready. It’s a bit of me looking into the future and trying to see who potentially might go.”
Chris Wilder fears second Gustavo Hamer bid
Blades boss Chris Wilder was coy in the press conference when asked if Leeds United would return after their initial bid for Hamer was rejected:
“I don’t know [if they’ll make another bid]. I really don’t know what they’re thinking. Everyone knows what the bid is. They’ve brought in £120m and trying to nick our player for what the bid is. I don’t know what it was supposed to do but it hasn’t done anything and it hasn’t from Gus’ point of view.”
When asked about Hamer’s performance in Sheffield United’s loss to Barnsley in the EFL Cup, Wilder believes the transfer rumours have not affected the player.
“I thought Gus Hamer was outstanding. We had a chat with Gus, obviously there’s been speculation regarding him, but he showed the energy, the urgency that I’m after and he lit the game up.
“He picked the ball up, he drove, he had about 3 shots in 10 minutes – we have to get that urgency in to the play. He risked and showed what a good player he is. I didn’t see one ounce of that speculation in his performance tonight.”
Leeds United host Hull City this weekend, looking to add their second win of the league season after their “best performance of the season” against Sheffield Wednesday according to Daniel Farke.
