Birmingham City boss John Eustace says the club do not want to see George Hall depart this January.
This comes after speculation that Leeds United are close to signing the young midfielder. The Blues boss is adamant that the English youngster will stay and become a ‘big part’ of the clubs future: “Everyone knows what I think of George Hall, he’s one of the top young players in the country, especially in the Championship and I certainly don’t want George to go,” “I have seen the speculation. I don’t think anyone at the football club wants George to leave. He is going to play a massive part here going forward and I think his development up to now has been fantastic. He is really showcasing himself very well, when he starts games he is very good and when he has come off the bench he has made a huge impact.”
Eustace on George Hall’s development so far
Hall has made 18 appearances for the Blues this season, scoring one goal and providing an assist. The 18-year old has only started 5 games in the Championship, with Eustace keen on providing more game time to aid in his development.
“For a player who has just turned 18, I think his development is good. George is a fantastic young player, I don’t want him to go anywhere. We are very lucky to have him at the football club.”
“Not at all, the way he has developed up to now has been good, we have got JJ, we have got Jobes, we have got Josh Williams, Alfie Chang, we have got lots of young players where it’s my job to play them at the right time, also get a result, also make the environment at the football club very good and make sure everyone who comes in every day wants to come in and work and enjoys coming in. It’s getting that right balance.”
George Hall will be looking to follow the path of current England international Jude Bellingham who had a stellar campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. A move to Leeds United may well be the start of another potential star player in the making.
