Leeds are due to face off with Liverpool on Sunday, but they will now be without star man Raphinha after Brazil have asked FIFA to invoke the 5-day rule, which would prevent the Brazilian from featuring against the Reds.
Raphinha had been called up to the Brazil squad for the very first time, but due to Covid restrictions the Premier League prevented Brazilian players from leaving for International duty. As a result of this, Brazil have asked for FIFA’s intervention into the matter.
Liverpool will also be majorly troubled by this news, with Alisson and Fabinho at risk of missing the match. The absence of Raphinha could mean that Dan James would be given his full debut sooner than expected, but with minimal training under Bielsa this is still up in the air.
Hopefully the Premier League can sort this debacle out with FIFA, as it’s not fair on Raphinha that he has to miss the game despite not even travelling with the Brazil squad.
