Last year saw a lot of Leeds United fans complain about Daniel Farke’s decisions. But eventually these changes paid off as the club won promotion and lifted the Championship.
One huge decision that rubbed fans the wrong way was the re-introduction of Brenden Aaronson. The American had spent the previous campaign on loan in the Bundesliga, where he had a poor season. However, Daniel Farke decided to take a chance on him as the club needed a specific role to be filled.
Aaronson was plugged in Farke’s system as the number 10 as moves for Gus Hamer failed.

Aaronson was productive this past season, scoring nine goals and creating two more. It was the first time in his career he had reached such a milestone. Despite his contribution to the title win, some fans and pundits still doubt his quality.
The 24-year old has now opened up on his performances last season:
“I had a really good start to the season and I just rode that wave all the way to January. I had a good run of 20-25 games at a high level. Then, your body starts to fatigue a little bit.” he said speaking to GOAL.
“In January, you play every three days. Your body slows down, you’re not feeling as good and I probably had a little spell where I wasn’t at my top level.
Fatigue seemed to play a big part in why Aaronson’s production tailed off from January.
“I still felt like I was doing a good job dealing with it, helping the team do what we were supposed to do and then, at the end of the season, I came alive again, which was good.
“It’s just learning to stay medium all year round. You have to stay right in the middle and go from there. You just have to go right through all of the highs and all of the lows. You just keep going.”

The American’s impact was not appreciated enough, but he played a key role during the season. His nine goals alone ranked him high among Leeds players.
