Brighton dealt major injury blow ahead of Leeds United trip

Leeds United will be in action on Monday night when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in north London in a game that could end up shaping the survival race.

The Whites are virtually safe after taking their tally to 43 points, and their Premier League status could be confirmed ahead of the game on Monday night.

However, Daniel Farke does not want his players to drop their intensity and wants a strong finish to the season, which could see Leeds bring in more money for finishing higher up in the table.

Leeds would want a result from the game against Tottenham and finish their home season on a high when they host Brighton at Elland Road next Saturday.

Brighton confirm major injury ahead of Leeds trip

The Sealgulls hammered Wolves 3-0 on Saturday. However, the win came at a cost after one of their major players picked up an injury, which is likely to rule him out for their last two league games.

Winger Kaoru Mitoma hobbled off the pitch just before the hour mark after suffering a hamstring injury, and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler confirmed it after the game.

While he stressed that he wanted to stay positive and confirmed the winger still needs a scan to assess the injury properly, the Brighton manager admitted it appeared to be a serious issue.

“Yeah, we have to wait for the scan”, Fabian Hurzeler told reporters after the game.

“Then we can clarify it, of course.

“It didn’t look great, but I’m a positive person, and I stay positive regarding this.”

Mitoma is almost certain to miss the trip to Leeds and Brighton’s last game of the season against Manchester United, as things stand.

The Whites would want a strong end to the season

Leeds may be mathematically safe before they kick off against Tottenham on Monday night, but Daniel Farke would hope that his players do not drop their intensity.

The Whites would want to ensure that they remain honest in their last three league games and manage to finish the season on a strong note.

Brighton will also be Leeds’ last home game of the season, and the supporters would want the team to finish on a positive note with all three points.

Leeds also hold the key to deciding which team get relegated as they will face West Ham on the final day of the season, when everything may still be on the line.

It is like being chased by a bear. You just have to be in front of someone close to the bear.
