Leeds United have entered this summer transfer window with some major concerns. The club won the Championship this season, scoring 95 goals and hitting a 100 points.
It may seem hard to figure out how to improve upon such a team, but recent Premier League seasons have shown how difficult it can be. All three newly promoted clubs have gone straight back down to the Championship in consecutive seasons. Last year, Ipswich Town and Leicester City were promoted with 80+ points but struggled to hit 30 points in the top flight.
There are currently two major concerns in the Leeds squad heading into next season. The Whites are keen to address the fullback depth a they are negotiating new deals with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo. Leeds have a new contract for Firpo, and are waiting on a response.
A new goalkeeper is also a priority this summer.

Illan Meslier’s future is still up in the air, with many expecting the Frenchman to part ways with the club later this month. Leeds have been linked with many names over the last two months, including Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds could be set for a shock move for Newcastle United stopper Nick Pope. A deal could be made possible if the Magpies secure a deal for Burnley keeper James Trafford. Eddie Howe’s side could pay £30million to land a deal for the England star.
If the 22-year old makes the move to Newcastle, then there is a huge possibility that Leeds land Nick Pope.
Pope is an immediate upgrade on Meslier
Nick Pope is just a better all round shot stopper than Illan Meslier. The England keeper is also better at sweeping in behind the defence, and is commanding during set pieces – two areas Meslier struggled with.

If the opportunity presents itself, Leeds United need to pull the trigger on signing Nick Pope.
Of course, Pope could just go back to Burnley…….
