Burnley new boy Zian Flemming has claimed that his side’s win over ‘one of the best teams’ in Leeds United shows how quickly the team have worked as a unit despite the turnover of players in the summer transfer window.
Flemming started up front for Burnley last weekend when his side beat Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road, which has emerged as a statement victory this early in the season.
Burnley struggled ahead of the game due to injuries, and the squad was unstable due to the massive turnover of players, which saw 21 stars leave Turf Moor in the summer transfer window.
Flemming was one of the late arrivals at Burnley on deadline day and the game against Leeds was his debut for the Clarets.
The win over Leeds United showed Burnley’s strength as a unit
Flemming admitted that he didn’t have to experience the upheaval over the summer as he only joined the club on deadline day and he joined a team that were already shaping up.
The Burnley new boy insisted that there was a real sense of relief and joy following the win at Leeds due to the questions they were facing ahead of the fixture.
He stressed that Leeds are one of the best teams in the Championship and the win showed that Burnley have formed into a unit despite the volume of new players in the squad.
“Obviously I came quite late [into the window] so I haven’t experienced all of the turnaround of players, but I came into a team where the team was already there even though it was quite fresh, so I can’t really judge that”, he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
“But I can definitely judge how united we felt after the game but, more importantly, how united we were during the game.
“I think it’s quite impressive when you consider how new the team is and how strong of a unit we saw against Leeds who are one of the best teams in the league.”
Daniel Farke, on the other hand, is facing some tough questions at Leeds following the defeat to Burnley despite his job being safe for now.
