Burnley star makes classy gesture towards Leeds United – makes ‘incredible’ Championship claim

Leeds United had one of the more exciting Championship seasons in recent years. It had everything, a title race till the final day, excitement and most importantly winning the title.

From the start of January till the end of the season, the title race was clearly between two teams. Leeds and Burnley were just running through every opponent every weekend. The two teams could not have been much different from each other. While Scott Parker’s side prioritized solidity and defensive structure, Daniel Farke’s team were regularly scoring freely every game.

The title race went down to the final day. Burnley were at home, and Leeds were away to Plymouth. It took a late winner from Manor Solomon to seal the title for the Whites.

Burnley and Leeds finished on a 100 points, but the Whites lifted the trophy due to their superior goal difference.

Clarets star Maxime Esteve has reflected on the season, giving full credit to Leeds:

“100 points is an amazing season, it’s a brilliant achievement from everyone,” he said to Burnley Express.

“I’m so proud honestly. Not only of me, but the whole team because the dressing room is just amazing. The consistency is absolutely amazing. I think the mentality from everyone is to win every game and the will not to lose, which is brilliant.

“That was the most important thing [to win the final game against Millwall]. We are equal on points with Leeds, so that’s brilliant for them, full credit, because both teams played an amazing season. We get 100 points and we’re still not champion, which is a little bit disappointing, but honestly it’s been a top, top season and I’m just so proud of everyone.”

Leeds should speed up preparations for the Premier League

There is not a lot of time between now and the start of the Premier League. Daniel Farke has to make new additions, and see how they fare in pre season before shaping the team for the first week of action.

So far, the club seems to be targeting experienced Premier League players. Leeds have made a formal approach to sign Vladimir Coufal this summer.
