Liverpool set asking price for Leeds United target Caoimhin Kelleher – He’s the perfect signing for Leeds

As Leeds United close in on securing automatic promotion to the Premier League, the rumours around their transfer business next summer are picking up pace. The squad are focused on getting the job done but speculation is picking up about their transfer plans. Leeds are expected to bring in a new goalkeeper despite Illan Meslier wanting to stay at Elland Road if they get promoted. Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale has emerged as an option but Caoimhin Kelleher has been their top target for a while. And it seems the Whites’ chances of landing the Liverpool goalkeeper have received a massive boost.

Farke is aware that Leeds would need quality additions across the board if they get promoted as the gulf between the Championship and the Premier League has only grown wider.

Meslier’s performances this season have been concerning and Leeds are more or less certain about wanting to bring in a new goalkeeper who could replace him as their number one in the Premier League.

Ramsdale has been identified as a target and with Southampton expected to get relegated, the Englishman would be looking to find a club in the Premier League next summer.

A relegation clause in his contract means he would be available for a fixed price, but Liverpool’s Kelleher has been the dream target for the Yorkshire giants.

He is set to leave Anfield in the next transfer window and he could be available for a price far lower than what Liverpool would have preferred given his contract situation.

Liverpool could be forced to sell Caoimhin Kelleher at a knocked down price

Kelleher put together a series of good performances last year when Alisson Becker was out with a hamstring injury for a couple of months. However, since the Brazilian’s return, he has again been relegated to the bench.

The Irishman will be allowed to leave Liverpool in the summer and several teams are set to be in the race to sign him in the next few months.

Leeds are amongst the clubs who are keen to get their hands on him but Liverpool’s £30m to £40m asking price was expected to be a major complication.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are now considering letting him go for a much lower fee, given his contract situation at Anfield.

Kelleher will have a year left on his contract in the summer and the Reds are facing the prospect of losing him on a free transfer next year.

The Merseyside giants could be forced to accept a fee in the region of £20m to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of next season.

Kelleher is said to be keen on continuing in the Premier League and several clubs are expected to join the chase for his signature ahead of the summer.

Leeds will continue to keep tabs on him in the coming months and hope to offer him a chance to move to Elland Road if they get promoted to the Premier League.

Kelleher would be a coup if Leeds manage to sign him

Leeds are in the market for a goalkeeper and several are being assessed as they push towards getting promoted to the Premier League this season.

Ramsdale would be a good signing and his experience in the Premier League would prove vital if Leeds get promoted and fight for survival next season.

However, Kelleher is a different class and could be the number one at most other Premier League clubs despite struggling to displace Alisson at Anfield.

The Irishman is a reliable goalkeeper who makes rare errors and is good on the ball, which is a necessary quality to be in Daniel Farke’s team.

If he is available for £20m, and Leeds get promoted, they should do everything in their power to take him to Elland Road in the next summer transfer window.

He could be a game-changing signing for Leeds and would fix one problematic area of their squad which has been needing addressing for a while.
