Champions League club slap £9M price tag on Leeds United target this summer

It has become more clear what Lees United are looking for in the transfer window in the final weeks. After bolstering the defence and midfield, the club now want to spend on the attack.

Leeds suffered a huge blow as they missed out on signing Igor Paixao. The Brazilian winger was a major target, with the club reaching an agreement with Feyenoord. But eventually the player chose a move to France.

Now, Leeds want a new center forward. Former Whites star Paul Robinson thinks the club need to make a statement and go all out to sign Rodrigo Muniz.

“He’s a top player and that’s a signing that makes you stand up and take notice.”

“That’s a player who you look at and you go, yeah, he could score between 12 and 15 goals, maybe more, if given the service and keep Leeds in the Premier League.

“Muniz is a Premier League-proven player, and he’s the player that would strengthen Leeds without a shadow of a doubt. And he’s a player who could quickly become a fan’s favourite if he started scoring goals.”

Newcastle have made an informal enquiry for the Brazilian as Leeds monitor the situation.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Mehdi Taremi is ready to leave Inter. The club have now decided that they want to make a profit on a player they signed for free last year. Inter have slapped a price tag around £9million on the 33-year old.

The Serie A side know the striker is not in their plans for next season. Leeds, Fulham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are keen on a move.

Botafogo confirm Taremi snub

Brazilian club Botafogo held talks with Taremi over a move, but ultimately, the talks broke down. The club’s sporting director Leo Coelho has confirmed this speaking to Amazon:

“Regarding the negotiations with Taremi. They were very preliminary. In reality, we were just sounding it out. His agents also inquired about the possibility of him coming to do, and they presented their demands to us.

“But it’s a matter of keeping our books balanced. We need to understand our budget and our squad. So as to not create problems for ourselves that are out of proportion.”

Striker could be a solid signing

At 33-year old, the age will be a problem, but Taremi has proved he is a lethal goalscorer. His time at Inter Milan is not really the best to judge him on. In his time in Porto, he netted over 100 goals in the league and Champions League.

Leeds definitely need that kind of firepower in their team next season.
