Champions League coach gives verdict on latest Leeds United signing – tipped to be a ‘complete’ player

Leeds United completed their first signing of the summer this week. The club are still planning to add a few more faces before pre season begins.

The club is aiming to add as much quality as possible to improve the squad ahead of next season. Lukas Nmecha arrived to give a huge boost to the attack. Leeds boss Daniel Farke already has a role in mind for the German forward.

The Whites are also in talks to add a few more players this week. Leeds are set to agree a deal for Udinese’s Jaka Bijol, while a move for Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra is in the pipeline.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United sold these players to?

Nmecha is yet to kick a ball for the Whites, but the commentary around him has been pleasing. He comes with experience, having played a lot of top flight football in recent seasons. He is yet to play in the Premier League, and many wonder how he will do.

Former Burnley boss, and current Bayern coach, Vincent Kompany worked with Nmecha a few years ago, and was impressed with the forward’s talent:

“He also works hard for the team“, Kompany said to Belgian outlet HLN (quotes via MEN).

“Of course, he still has room for improvement, but actually he is already a quite complete striker. He does not have any noticeable weaknesses.

“At the moment he is already one of the best strikers in Belgium. In time he will be a striker for one of the European clubs who are just below the top or even for a top European club.”

How ‘complete’ is Nmecha as a striker?

The 26-year old has been praised for his physicality and ability to hold the ball high up the pitch. Injuries disrupted his campaign last season, but his data shows flashes of an all round player.

Nmecha had 20 shots last season, with seven coming from headers. Which means he has some ability in the air, and can be a target. The shot map also shows he can use his left and right foot, something that could confuse opponent defenders. His work rate has been praised at his former club also. Leeds may have gotten a bargain summer signing.
