There were many questions surrounding Leeds United and the squad this summer. The club’s recruitment has addressed most of these issues, but some holes remain just weeks till the Premier League kicks off.
At the tail end of last season, Illan Meslier was benched for Karl Darlow during a poor run of form. The Frenchman’s mistakes proved to be too much for Daniel Farke who ultimately took the decision to bench the keeper. Darlow was in goal for the club’s final run of games as they lifted the Championship.
Many expected Meslier to leave the club this summer, but the 25-year old is still at the club and is in Germany with the team. Leeds signed Lyon keeper Lucas Perri, who is widely expected to be number one next season. There could yet be some massive changes in the goalkeeping department before next season kicks off.

According to MOT Leeds News, Leeds have received an offer for Karl Darlow from an unnamed Championship club. The report adds that the Whites have rejected the proposal which came in the last 24 hours.
Darlow has one year left on his current deal, but he seems happy with his place at the club. The Welsh keeper is in Germany with the team, with the three other first team keepers Illan Meslier, Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns.
Leeds’ stance on Karl Darlow
Per the report, Leeds have made their intentions clear – they are not willing to part ways with Karl Darlow.
Daniel Farke sees the 34-year old as a valuable member of the squad. The Leeds boss spoke highly of the keeper, when asked about the arrival of latest signing Lucas Perri.
“With Karl we have a veteran who proven, who has delivered under pressure in the final stage of last season.
“I’m pretty happy with this. And also Alex Cairns, a fantastic character. I’m pretty happy with my goalkeeping squad right now.”
One keeper needs to go before the season starts
It would be a huge stretch for Daniel Farke to pick four goalkeepers in his 26-man Premier League squad. So it is very obvious one of the four keepers leaves before the season kicks off.
Lucas Perri is a new signing and will be first choice, so he is safe. Karl Darlow looks to have the backing of Farke after this latest development. So it seems like either Illan Meslier or Alex Cairns will be the goalkeeper leaving the club this summer.
