Championship club tipped to swoop for Leeds United star

Leeds United are preparing to offload some players ahead of the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke is looking to strengthen the team as they look to win promotion this season. Leeds lost out in the playoff final to Southampton last season, and will be hoping for automatic qualification this time around.

The team are on track to meet this; Daniel Farke’s men sit in third place in the Championship. Leeds are two points behind Sunderland and Sheffield United.

After 15 games, Daniel Farke has an idea of his first choice selections in every game. This has lead to some players dropping to the bench, while others have barely gotten a chance to play.

Some players already find themselves near the exit as the January transfer window looms. Isaac Schmidt, who was signed this summer, has struggled for game time. Recently Daniel Farke told him to step up in training if he wants to play games.

Manor Solomon has also been dropped to the bench after he started the season on a high. His early performances faded and he now finds himself behind Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto.

Another player who has found himself out of the team is Joe Gelhardt. The forward has played in just two games in the league this season. This has lead to reports that he is pushing for a move away from the club. An exclusive from MOT Leeds News has revealed Gelhardt is looking for a loan when the January window opens.

Daniel Farke said earlier this season that it will be difficult to keep every player at the club happy, when he was asked about Joe Gelhardt:

“It’s one of the most-difficult parts of your job. Each player wants to play every second. You can only start 11 players. You might only have two or three players that are 100% happy with you, that’s the reality.

“We try to create unity. You have to be ready when your chance comes. Each and every player that is with us has my backing and my trust, and they have to be ready when the chance comes,”

Joe Gelhardt needs to leave

Over the past year, Gelhardt has waited for his chance in the first team but has never been given a consistent run. The forward scored three goals and had three assists in 18 games on loan at Sunderland two seasons ago. Moving at this stage of his career will be the best decision.
