Charlie Cresswell makes bold claim about Leeds United fans

This summer, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made his decisions clear on some first team members. He decided to make big calls on Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison and other forwards at the club.

Bamford ended up leaving the club after agreeing to terminate his contract, and Harrison was reintegrated into the first team despite having spent the last two years on loan. The other two casualties were youngsters Largie Ramazani and Mateo Joseph. Joseph got some first team minutes last year, but when he asked for clarity over his role, he decided to ask for a transfer. Leeds had to loan him to Spain.

Ramazani followed a similar path; last season he was limited to cameos with many expecting something from him this year. He was shipped off with Farke preferring Brenden Aaronson and Jack Harrison.

Ramazani and Joseph are the latest in a line of young Leeds players that Daniel Farke has inexplicably just decided not to play for some reason. Charlie Cresswell experienced the same thing a few seasons ago. After the young defender had a stellar loan at Millwall in the Championship, many thought he could fight for a starting place. But he ended up not playing, and asking for a move later – he eventually joined Toulouse in France.

Cresswell has been excelling at his new team, and has been linked with a return to England. The defender recently spoke about the difference between fans in England and France:

“In France, the fans are fantastic. We don’t have that in England, ‘crazy’ fans. They’re jumping around all over the place throughout the match,”

“There are ultras standing up front in the stands with microphones, directing the other supporters, it’s really crazy!”

“Sometimes they don’t even watch the match, they’re just singing and jumping like crazy. In England, I didn’t really see fans with microphones in the stadium, motivating all the supporters,”

Elland Road has a fantastic atmosphere

As seen in games in the Premier League this season, Leeds have some of the best fans in England. They create such a hostile environment for visitors and it is a huge advantage for the team. Daniel Farke’s men have only lost one game at home this season, and the fans are a huge reason why.
