Leeds United have a tough task ahead of them on Tuesday night as they visit Stamford Bridge. However, they will be buoyed by the result they managed at home over the weekend.
The Whites comfortably beat their relegation rivals Nottingham Forest on Friday, maintaining their position above the relegation zone. With West Ham also winning over the weekend, the gap remains six points. Chelsea have been in great form under Liam Rosenior; their new coach has lead them to seven wins out of the last nine games in all competitions.
Both sides have something to play for going into Tuesday night, with the Blues looking to secure their spot in the top four while Leeds continue their fight for survival. The last time these two sides met, the Whites sprung a huge surprise at Elland Road.
Liam Rosenior praises Leeds United star
Enzo Maresca’s side were outplayed as the Blues lost 3-1. This time around, Daniel Farke will be meeting a new coach on the touchline. Ahead of the game, Liam Rosenior has pointed out that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a huge part of their attacking play:
“You saw it against Nottingham Forest; they were magnificent in that game.
“Very forward thinking and when I say direct, I mean it in a really positive way, they use the strengths of the team, they use Dominic, his movement in the box is outstanding, they get crosses in the box, they counter press really well and we have to stand up to that and overcome those intensity things that are key to the game.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a huge revelation this season and has shown why Leeds were right to take a chance of him.
Leeds attackers need to step up
Against Forest, Noah Okafor had one of his best games of the season, and it went a long way to giving his side the win. He offered something different up alongside Calvert-Lewin with his pace in behind. Having another outlet to rely on is great and will help strikers not be isolated during attacks.
Ahead the clash on Tuesday night, the Whites need their other attackers to show up alongside their striker. Away games are often difficult because of the environment. Leeds will have to show a lot of fight if they want to get a result on Tuesday night.
