Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder hinted at a press conference that Leeds United missed out on signing Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. The Whites also failed to sign Blades midfielder Gustavo Hamer during the transfer window.
Leeds United signed Jayden Boyle from Sheffield United earlier this summer. He was one of the first deals to be completed. Just days before the end of the transfer window, Leeds failed in their bid to sign Blades midfielder Gustavo Hamer.
Sheffield United and Leeds were apart in the valuation of the midfielder according to Alan Nixon. The Whites had an initial £13million bid rejected for Hamer.
Now Chris Wilder claims Leeds also missed out on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who joined the Blades on loan this summer.
Chris Wilder makes claim about Leeds target
Rak-Sakyi was linked to Leeds United earlier this summer as they looked to replace Crysencio Summerville. The talented midfielder was highly coveted this summer, with two bids being rejected by Crystal Palace according to Chris Wilder. One of the bids he hinted was from Leeds United:
“In our pitch I said how important Bramall Lane was,” Wilder said after the win against Watford.
“There were two £15m bids for him and three-quarters of the Championship sides in for him as well. Part of the pitch was him feeling what he felt today. For him, for Jamie Shackleton, for Michael Cooper, it was big and hopefully they’ve enjoyed their first win in a red-and-white shirt.
“He [Rak-Sakyi] is going to be a player. There were two big bids for him to Crystal Palace, one out of our division and one out of the Premier League. We beat off a whole host of Championship clubs. All the players wanted to come here. And if I was a player, I’d want to come here on days like today as well.”
Rak-Sakyi started his first championship game for Sheffield United against Watford, and impressed during his full debut.
Blades boss calls out Leeds again
This weekend was not the first time Chris Wilder took a jab at Leeds United’s transfer business. The Blades boss called Leeds’ bid for Gustavo Hamer “a million miles off”.
Wilder also complained about Leeds’ signing of Jayden Bogle, saying it was “Mickey Mouse stuff”:
“There’s genuine stuff and then the Mickey Mouse stuff that happens. We don’t play those games. We’re straight. If we make a bid for somebody, we go through the front door and deal with it that way. The job is hard enough to play mind games, but for some characters, it does get into them.
“I think you can look at Jayden as a prime example. As soon as the interest was there, they low-balled us straightaway and he was gone. I have to deal with it, and his team-mates have to deal with it as well. You don’t really talk about that, you talk about someone who doesn’t want to be here.”
seems to me wilder has got money envy, if leeds were in the national league they would still be bigger than sheffield , rak sakyi didnt come to leeds becouse we couldnt offer him guaranteed game time not becouse delusional wilder says everyone wants to go to sheffield muppet
Leeds has a bigger club, but apparently Sheffield has better schools- ‘because’ it’s spelt with an a not an o…. can’t even blame keyboard for that one- muppet.
