Leeds United and Sheffield United have not been the most friendly rivals in the Championship this past season. Both teams were competing for promotion this season.
The Blades were formidable under Chris Wilder, and were firmly in the race to be promoted in the final weeks of the season. Ironically, it was Sheffield United’s loss to Burnley that sealed promotion for the Whites.
Blades boss Chris Wilder has had an issue with Leeds since the start of the season. Signing Jayden Bogle was what initially set off the complaints from Wilder. Later in the same transfer window, the Whites tried to sign Gus Hamer, but the Blades rejected the offers. Wilder even publicly mocked the attempt.

Hamer won the EFL Player of the Season award, and during The Star Football Awards he addressed the Leeds United saga. The midfielder revealed that he spoke to Chris Wilder and decided to stay this season.
“We had words just in pre-season, and we looked ourselves in the eyes and we said we can do this this season.”
Now, according to Alex Crook, it has been revealed that Leeds will attempt to sign the 27-year old this summer. Sheffield United are resigned to losing Hamer after they lost the Championship playoff final. Many suggest that the star midfielder is keen on a move to the Premier League.
Leeds and Everton are said to be the frontrunners for his signature.
Daniel Farke could finally get his man
This season, Hamer has statistically been one of the best attackers in the competition. Nine goals and seven assists for Sheffield United. His performances showed why Daniel Farke was willing to pay a huge fee to sign him.
