Sheffield United failed to win the Championship playoff final last weekend. They failed to reach the Premier League, unlike their rivals Leeds United.
The Blades will now experience what the Whites went through last summer. Leeds were raided by Premier League clubs who swooped in and signed their best players. Elland Road said goodbye to Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. But things went according to plan for Daniel Farke this season as he guided the club to a Championship win.
Reports this week have already reported that Leeds are eyeing a move for Sheffield United star Gustavo Hamer.

Chris Wilder prepared for Leeds United summer move

Leeds fans will be pleased to know that Chris Wilder has already braced himself for the exit of his star player. Back in February, when the rumours surrounding Hamer popped up again, the Blades boss had this to say:
“Throughout a season there are always standout players, and he’s been our standout player,” he told The Star. “I’m sure there’s interest from a lot of good clubs and Leeds is a good club, a big club. We don’t want to lose our best players. We lost one in the summer [Jayden Bogle], which I was disappointed about, and we need to keep our best players and invest in them.
Wilder admitted that a time will come for discussions to be had about a possible sale.
“But there’s always, when the time’s right and the numbers are right, there has to be conversations. But this is not the time for that, and Gus is contributing. He’s got his head down and is fully focused. I thought his performance was outstanding on Wednesday night and he’s going to be a big player for us in the run-in.”
Leeds have the Premier League edge
The tables have turned now and Leeds will benefit from. Last summer, the club lost their best players to top clubs and now, the Whites can do the same. Hamer would jump at the chance to return to the top flight. And he would be a great addition to the squad. Daniel Farke has been chasing the 27-year old, and can finally land his man.
