Galatasaray are closing in on a deal with Freiburg for Leeds United target Roland Sallai who could be in Istanbul later today if the two clubs reach an agreement.
Leeds were interested in signing the winger from the German club when the transfer window was open in England and they even tabled an offer worth €9m.
Freiburg would have preferred to sell the winger to Leeds but Sallai declined the move as he didn’t want to play in the Championship.
Leeds moved on to other targets and signed Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani to strengthen their wide areas towards the end of the summer transfer window in England.
However, it seems Freiburg could get their wish of wanting to sell the player before the summer draws to a close.
Turkish giants are pushing to sign the Leeds United target
The transfer window in Turkey is still open and is only set to close later this evening, giving Galatasaray a chance to try and do a late deal for Sallai.
According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Galatasaray are close to reaching an agreement over a fee with Freiburg for the transfer of the winger.
Talks are still ongoing between the two clubs but a deal is close to getting agreed upon between the two clubs for the winger to move to Galatasaray.
If an agreement is in place in the coming hours, Sallai will travel to Istanbul to complete the formalities of the transfer to the Turkish giants.
Galatasaray are trying to rush through the agreement as they are quickly running out of time to finalise the terms of Sallai’s transfer this summer.
Leeds missed out on signing him but it seems the Hungarian is open to moving to Turkey if Galatasaray can finalise an agreement with Freiburg in the coming hours.
Sallai is now facing an anxious wait as the two clubs and his agent try to push through the transfer today.
