Leeds United are approaching the winter transfer window with a positive mindset. The board want to make more money available to Daniel Farke as they are keen to spend to bring in reinforcements in January. However, Leeds are also expected to move on a few players to make space in their squad.
Farke wants to avoid the mistakes of the previous transfer window when Leeds were quiet and they paid for it towards the end of last season when they missed out on automatic promotion and lost the playoff final.
The Leeds boss is pushing to bring in players in defence and midfield but the club will need to find space in their squad by moving on a few players in the January transfer window.
Joe Gelhardt is expected to leave Leeds on loan but there is serious chatter about Maximilian Wober moving on from Elland Road in the winter transfer window.
Red Bull Salzburg are apparently closing in on a deal to sign the defender, which could see Leeds pick up players from clubs from the Red Bull network.
However, the deal is not at an advanced stage as previously anticipated at this stage of the season.
Negotiations are yet to start for the Leeds defender
According to journalist Peter Linden, Salzburg have indeed expressed an interest in getting their hands on the Austrian centre-back in the winter window.
Wober, who has played just twice in the league this season, is also open to returning to Austria in January if the two clubs can agree on a deal.
However, it has been claimed that the deal has not gone beyond the Austrian giants expressing an interest in signing the Leeds defender.
Salzburg are yet to start negotiations with the defender’s representatives or Leeds at this stage.

They are still working on several options and Wober is one of the players Salzburg are considering signing in the winter window.
However, no concrete moves have been made and the club will only push to sign him after considerable deliberations.
Wober’s potential move to Salzburg could open up the prospect of Leeds signing players from the Red Bull network of clubs in the winter window.
