Club playing waiting game to trigger Leeds United exit

Leeds United have pressed the accelerator on their transfer business and are hoping to finalise a few deals in the next couple of weeks.

The Whites have an agreement in place to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer, and will formalise his arrival this week, once he is out of his contract at Fulham.

Leeds have also agreed on a deal to sell Pascal Struijk and are set to receive an initial fee of £15m once he completes a move to Brighton this summer.

The club need a few more sales this summer, but one departure is likely to be delayed as the buying club continue to wait for more favourable terms in the ongoing window.

Valencia are still waiting for Leeds to lower their demands for Largie Ramazani

Largie Ramazani spent last season on loan at Valencia, and the Spanish club are interested in taking him back to the Mestalla in the ongoing window.

Leeds are also prepared to let him go as he is not part of Daniel Farke’s plans at Elland Road, with the player also keen on a return to Valencia.

Ron Gourlay, the Spanish club’s CEO, was in England earlier this month to hold talks with Leeds over a potential deal to sign Ramazani this summer.

However, there exists a large difference between what Valencia want to offer and what Leeds are demanding before agreeing to the winger’s exit.

According to Sport, Gourlay is waiting for Leeds to drop their financial demands before trying to negotiate a deal to sign Ramazani in the ongoing window.

The Spanish club do not have the funds needed to meet Leeds’ current demands, and are willing to play the waiting game to sign the winger.

They are aware Leeds want to move him on as Farke doesn’t fancy the player and are ready to be patient to trigger his exit from Elland Road this summer.

His departure is inevitable

Daniel Farke’s decision to change Leeds United’s shape midway through last season proved to be a turning point in the club’s campaign, but it also left several attacking players struggling to find a place in the team.

As Leeds moved away from using traditional wingers, opportunities became far more limited for players such as Wilfried Gnonto and Daniel James, while Noah Okafor was deployed in a more central attacking role.

The situation is only set to become more competitive. With Harry Wilson close to joining the club, Largie Ramazani is likely to slip even further down the pecking order.

Of all the wide players, Ramazani has perhaps been the biggest casualty of Farke’s tactical switch. The Belgian no longer appears to suit the manager’s preferred system, and Leeds are keen to resolve his future sooner rather than later.

An early exit would suit all parties. Neither Leeds nor Ramazani will want uncertainty hanging over pre-season, especially with preparations for the new campaign about to get underway.

There has also been a sense for some time that Farke was never fully convinced by the winger, even during Leeds’ promotion-winning Championship season.

With pre-season fast approaching, Leeds will be hoping to reach a swift resolution and avoid taking an unresolved transfer situation into the new campaign.
