Leeds United began their Premier League campaign with a win at Elland Road. They made history, becoming the first Championship winners to record a victory in their opening league game in 17 years.

The crowd made the home advantage count just like Daniel Farke asked in Friday’s press conference. Leeds’ performance on the pitch was very encouraging, with the likes of Ao Tanaka, and new signing Gabriel Gudmundsson standing out. Another new signing Lukas Nmecha, was the one who dispatched the penalty to secure all three points on Monday night.

Everton boss David Moyes gave Leeds some praise for their performance in the game, despite his side losing:

“Leeds were better than us on the night, certainly the first half. We were better in the second half and on that alone we might have had a chance of winning the game.”

Jonathan Rowe set to leave Marseille

Marseille star Jonathan Rowe has been temporarily excluded from the first-team squad following a heated dressing room confrontation after Friday’s 1-0 defeat at Rennes. He allegedly got into an altercation with teammate Adrien Rabiot.

It looks like the situation has escalated, and the England U21 star is set to leave. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Marseille will talk with the player’s agent about a potential exit.

Rowe already has interest from Italy and Premier League sides. Leeds have been linked with a move for the winger this summer, but no official approach has been made. Now that he is available, the club could move for him soon.

Leeds United still in the market for a winger

Daniel Farke mentioned that there could be more additions after Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined. One area of the pitch Leeds needed quality in was out wide, with the club failing to replace Manor Solomon’s production from last year.

Leeds are currently in advanced talks with AC Milan over Noah Okafor, but a deal for Rowe in addition could make a lot of sense.
