Confirmed: Leeds United star out until 2025

Daniel Farke is concerned with the match scheduling post international break

Leeds United and their run of bad luck with injuries just seems to go on and on.

After scoring the opener against Watford on Tuesday (22nd October) Largie Ramazani limped off with an ankle injury and Leeds United boss Daniel Farke admitted it was likely he would miss the trip to Bristol City on Saturday (26th October).

He has now confirmed that he will miss at least a month of action in a gutting blow to the Elland Road faithful.

“Sadly bad news with him,” said Farke at Friday’s pre-match press conference. “He has twisted his ankle. Sadly it’s a serious ligament injury. He doesn’t need surgery but he will be out four-to-six weeks. The best case is the last week of November.”

That wasn’t the only disappointing injury news to come out of the press conference however.

Leeds United midfielder Ilia Gruev 44 gets injured and has to leave the pitch during the EFL Sky Bet Championship match between Norwich City and Leeds United at Carrow Road.

Farke was pressed for updates on injured midfield duo Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev and it was mixed news. Farke revealed that Ampadu could be back earlier than eight weeks, but for Gruev he will be out until 2025.

On Ampadu he said: “We spoke about time scale for Ethan, eight to ten weeks. If he comes back even slightly earlier, I’m hoping for this. It’s too soon to judge this because he’s on a good path in his rehab but you never know, there could be a setback.”

Then on Gruev, he added: “He will definitely not come back during this calendar year. Normally you’re out for four months with his injury but too early to judge. Max Wober he’s a bit ahead of schedule, there’s a chance he could join us in team training next week. Perhaps available before the [November] int’l break. We expected him to be back on the other side of the break. It looks okay with him.”

This is not news Leeds fans will have wanted but the club have so far responded well to injury setbacks and fans will be hoping for more of the same as they chase promotion.
