Confirmed three Leeds United stars absent for QPR clash

Leeds United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Championship this weekend.

The Whites suffered a loss to Millwall away from home. Wednesday night was the first time Leeds had lost in the championship since they fell to Burnley in September.

Japhet Tanganga scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute. Daniel Farke had no reply for Millwall; in the second half he threw on Manor Solomon and Patrick Bamford, but still could not get the breakthrough.

A lot of issues happened after the game. Star striker Joel Piroe was heavily criticized for his performance; he failed to pose a threat throughout 90 minutes. Patrick Bamford also walked down the tunnel after half time and his body language suggested he was very frustrated with the result.

Against Millwall in midweek, Leeds were once again without key midfield duo Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev. The duo have not featured in a game since the end of September.

But there has been good news recently; Ampadu is back to training on grass, and Gruev has started to walk without crutches.

Ahead of this weekend’s game against QPR, Daniel Farke says there are no new injury concerns. But he has ruled out a few players. Largie Ramazani, Ampadu and Gruev are the only players out this weekend. The Leeds boss also mentioned that fatigue will play a part in the upcoming game:

“Seems like most of the players came through without major injuries., Some knocks and tired legs as with every game. Quick turnaround. I spoke about being back in the early hours. Wait a little to see how they will recover over the 48 hours to be ready again. Some late decisions on mixing it up or not.”

QPR is the ideal game to bounce back from

Leeds can climb back up the table if they win against QPR and other results go their way this weekend. They are currently four points behind league leaders Sunderland and just two points behind second placed Sheffield United.

QPR are in 23rd and have not won a game since August. This is exactly the type of game Leeds need to bounce back. A huge win would boost the confidence of the team after a run of injuries.
