Connor Roberts denied reunion with Leeds United after injury blow

Leeds United return from the international break this weekend when they face Burnley at Turf Moor. Daniel Farke and Scott Parker clash once again after a fierce promotion battle to the wire last season.

Both sides finished level on points, but Leeds’ superior goal difference saw them lift the Championship on the final day. But this time around, they are two newly promoted sides trying to get a foothold in their Premier League season. Farke has a poor record against the Clarets, having won just one game since he arrived in England.

The Whites could be set for another reunion with an old player after the last few games. Against Bournemouth, Tyler Adams returned to Elland Road for the first time, and Leeds also welcomed Archie Gray after he left the club over a year ago.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

This Saturday could see Connor Roberts return to face his former club, but unfortunately it will not be on the pitch. Burnley boss Scott Parker has ruled the defender out for this weekend after he suffered a setback which could see him out for a few months:

“Connor has had a setback so it’s looking like a few months before we see him back.

“He’s a strong character and I am sure he will come through this stronger.”

Parker also confirmed that the initial fear around Lyle Foster’s injury may not be that serious. The forward was confirmed to have a dead leg and could be in line to play on Saturday.

“It’s better news than we initially thought with Lyle, it’s a dead leg.

“He travels back today and will be in later on today so we will have a conversation with him to see where he is at.”

Saturday could be the start of a good run

Saturday begins a run of winnable games for the Whites, their next three games being against West Ham, Brighton and Nottingham Forest. On paper, all three teams should be better than Leeds. But looking at their performances this season, fans should be optimistic about taking points off them.
