Coventry City have major injury worry ahead of Leeds United clash

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has indicated that Jamie Allen is a major injury doubt ahead of their trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United next weekend.

The Sky Blues have made a poor start to the season and are languishing in 19th in the Championship standings after six league games.

They suffered a 2-1 defeat at home against Swansea City on Saturday but they suffered a big injury to one of their key players in Allen at the weekend.

The defensive midfielder was subbed off midway through the first half after suffering a knee injury and was seen leaving the stadium in a leg brace and with the aid of crutches.

Allen is now a major doubt to travel to West Yorkshire as part of the Coventry squad to take on Leeds at Elland Road next Saturday.

The Coventry boss conceded that the midfielder has suffered a knee ligament injury but admitted that he is still not sure about how serious the injury is.

Robins is hopeful that the issue is not as serious as it seemed but for the moment, it seems unlikely Allen will be fit to face Leeds in the upcoming weekend.

“He’s got a knee ligament injury, so he had to come off”, Robins was quoted as saying by Leeds Live.

“He twisted it. I don’t know how bad it is yet but it’s a knee problem and we’re hoping it’s not a really serious one.”

Coventry will continue to assess the midfielder’s injury over the course of the next few days but the player being on crutches is not good news for the Sky Blues.

Leeds are likely to be confident of beating any side Coventry put on given the difference between the two teams at this stage of the season.

The Whites came back to winning ways on Saturday through goals scored by Largie Ramazni and Joel Piroe against Cardiff City.
