Illan Meslier’s future is still unknown, after multiple reports of a potential exit. Now, Leeds have lined up a replacement. According to Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt, the Whites have revived their interest in Mjallby goalkeeper Noel Tornqvist. Leeds have been monitoring the youngster since the start of the year, and could now make a move.
The report from Sweden claims that the keeper could be available for as low as £1.5million this summer.

Leeds recruited Illan Meslier as a highly rated goalkeeper in the 2nd tier of France. Not a lot of people had heard of him. But when he took his place in goal, he quickly showed everyone how good he was. The start of Meslier’s career at Elland Road was so good that by the time Leeds reached the Premier League, there were talks of him being France number 1.
Tornqvist may look like a risk, but it is one the club can take. 23 years old and available for cheap, all he may need is a few months to adapt to England. Leeds could even sign an experienced option as first choice for the Swede to learn under before taking over down the line.
Yeah, lets not replace meslier with a 1.5 million pound goalkeeper from the swedish league. I’m sure he’s a delightful bloke. But yeah, absolutely not the calibre we require.
