Daniel Farke dealt Leeds United hammer blow as 49ers decide his future

Dan James Leeds United

Leeds United will have no time to recover from their last result as they have another match in the Premier League midweek. On Wednesday, the Whites face Chelsea who are in form.

Leeds have lost their last four games in a row and the pressure continues to mount, with the future of Daniel Farke remaining in question. The German has been under pressure since last month with many suggesting that he could be sacked as early as the start of this month. His side endured a difficult defeat to Manchester City over the weekend, and it is increasingly difficult to see where they get their next point from.

Leeds United dealt blow after Dan James injury

Ahead of the Chelsea games, Farke confirmed more bad news for the club. Winger Dan James is now set for a spell on the sidelines after a hamstring problem. The Leeds boss confirmed this in Tuesday’s press conference:

”Sadly, Daniel James hamstring tendon is injured, how long it depends if he needs surgery.

”Looks like he can do conservative way but will probably miss next eight weeks at least, could be worse with surgery.

”It’s tough. Everyone knows how much I love Daniel James. A key player for me.

”Missing last season and major parts of pre-season. Fought so hard to be back in his best shape and we were extra careful, gave him more minutes.

”He’s worked so much in the last weeks to be back in the best shape, so motivated. Never seen him so disciplined, on top path to be back to his best but sometimes you can’t choose.

”He was a bit heartbroken when he got this assessment. Need him back as soon as possible.”

Leeds lack options on the right wing

With James out, the options available down the right are not really promising. And it is very likely that Farke brings Brenden Aaronson back into the starting lineup. The midfielder had a spell in the team earlier this season which did not go down well with the fans.

But with James out, there is a huge possibility that Aaronson features on Wednesday night. Leeds need to get points on the board despite the demanding fixture list, so Daniel Farke needs to do everything possible to get a result.
