Daniel Farke forced to reconsider transfer stance after what £5m defender did against Derby

Sebastiaan Bornauw

The FA Cup clash against Derby County was the perfect chance for Leeds United to bounce back after their loss to Newcastle.

Daniel Farke’s side fell to two late goals in injury time at St. James’ Park. The loss came as a bit of a surprise considering the Whites shut out Liverpool at Anfield and only conceded once against Manchester United.

Before Sunday’s clash some Leeds fans were worried that Farke would treat it like a throwaway match. Earlier in the season, Farke rotated his team against Sheffield Wednesday and lost.

Daniel Farke has to assess Sebastiaan Bornauw situation

Sunday saw a lot of rotation, as players who had not featured much this season had the chance for a run out against Championship opposition.

Lukas Nmecha made the most of the game as he starred in the 3-1 win away from home. James Justin, Ao Tanaka and Wilfried Gnonto were on the score sheet for the visitors. On the other hand, Sebastiaan Bornauw had a game to forget; he struggled in the first half and was quickly substituted in the second period. That was when Leeds mounted a comeback, scoring three goals to clinch the win.

Getting a result when Bornauw was subbed off has now raised eyebrows among the fanbase. The defender reportedly wants out of the club as he looks for more playing time. He was only called upon by Farke recently because of an injury to Joe Rodon.

49ers should consider sale of Leeds United star

Seeing how he played on Sunday, it is quite clear that Sebastiaan Bornauw is not at a 100%; he played very sloppy on the day. He wants to play more and it’s understandable, but there are just too many players ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Belgian has showed he is up to the task when someone calls upon him. He gave a very good account of himself against Manchester United and Liverpool.

It has been reported that the defender has been getting interest from clubs in Germany over the last few weeks. If he wants an exit so badly, then he should arrange a move away from the club this month. The 49ers should try and facilitate any transfer that comes their way in January. There is no use playing someone that is not fully focused on their football.

Bornauw was injured, the picture that you showed captioning a header was missed by both attacker and defender and your article has more holes in it than a sieve.
