Last season, Leeds United had to use Brenden Aaronson in the number 10 position for most of the season. The American became a sort of last resort after missing out on major targets.
Daniel Farke pushed for the club to sign Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United, but their bid was rejected. Though Brenden Aaronson had his most productive campaign last season, there are questions over his ability. Farke has already criticized the quality in the attack heading into the new campaign. He believes the club need to add a few more additions.
“We know in the offence we are not ready for Premier League level. We’ve proven we can be ready for one game and for that I am not too concerned at the moment as it stands.
“I know especially with the offence, in the last bit you can add some quality.”

Sources within the club have mentioned that it could come down to Emi Buendia or Gus Hamer when it comes to who the club signs in the number 10 position. So far, no move has been made for either player.
There is an update concerning Buendia according to Graeme Bailey. He believes that the Aston Villa star could still leave the club, but that the decision would come very late in the window:
“The no.10 position is fascinating. There’s still so many that are available. Leeds like Buendia, but I’m told by Villa sources that Buendia is playing himself back in contention there. But if the season starts and he doesn’t play in the first two games, he comes back into the window.”
Midfielder could stay at Aston Villa
As mentioned by Bailey, there is some belief that he could be back in Unai Emery’s plans. Just like with Jack Harrison and Daniel Farke this summer. Buendia had a goal and assist in Villa’s win over AS Roma this week. The chances of the Argentine staying remain low as Emery is set to add a few new players, but you can never rule anything out.
Working under Farke again could sway Buendia
If Buendia does decide to leave, surely Leeds United would be the main destination. Working under the last manager he was so successful under would be a huge boost.
Just this summer, he was speaking about Farke, saying that he was one of the ”most important coaches” of his career.
