Leeds United came back from two goals down to earn a point from their trip to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. While Leeds dropped more Championship points, the draw did end their four-game losing streak away at Loftus Road and it kept them at the top of the league table. However, they are now level on points with second-placed Sheffield United and are just two points ahead of Burnley, who are third in the Championship standings. Daniel Farke looked relieved at full-time but the Leeds boss is aware that he is under real pressure to deliver promotion or else he could exit Elland Road at the end of the season.
Many felt Leeds were unlucky not to get promoted last season despite notching up 90 points and are backing them as favourites to get promoted to the Premier League this season.
Daniel Farke and his side are on course to win more points than last season but automatic promotion still looks in jeopardy with eight games left in the campaign.
Sheffield United and Burnley are running them close and at least one of these three excellent sides will miss out on earning automatic promotion to the Premier League.
However, Leeds and Farke have more to lose if they don’t get promoted to the Premier League for the second year running after looking like runaway winners for the major part of the season.
The German is acutely aware that patience is running thin amongst the Leeds decision-makers and the supporters and if he fails to get the Whites to the Premier League this season, it could have major ramifications.
A better win percentage than Don Revie but Daniel Farke is staring at losing his job in the next six weeks
By just numbers, Farke is one of the best managers Leeds have had in their history and his win percentage is the best for any permanent manager at Elland Road.
A win percentage of 58.7 eclipses even the legendary Don Revie. However, it would count for nothing if Leeds don’t get promoted at the end of the season.
Farke was given one more chance after his team lost in the playoff final last season as last season was seen as an anomaly given how good Leicester and Ipswich were.
However, if Leeds again fail to secure automatic promotion and their playoff record continues to be poor, the German is unlikely to be given another shot.
Leeds would have to sell more big players in the summer and the shrinking parachute payment number would hamper their chances of bringing in better quality.
The teams coming down from the Premier League will have an obvious competitive and financial advantage and earning promotion next season would be much more complicated.
Leeds cannot afford to mess up their chance this time around and failure could have long-term implications for the club, which could see Farke depart.
The Leeds boss will trust his players to get the job done
Farke and his players have two weeks to get away from the pressure cooker scenario of the promotion and come back feeling fresher and raring to go.
Leeds have been the best team in the Championship and have shown that they have the squad to sustain their challenge until the end of the season.
Their recent form has been patchy with two wins in their last five but Leeds will play only two top-ten sides in their remaining eight games of the season.

Looking at the run-in, Leeds should feel confident of getting the job done and securing automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Farke has rarely lost faith in his players this season and the Leeds boss will back his charges to step up to the plate and ensure their ticket to the top flight for next season.
