Leeds United have only made three permanent and two loan signings during this transfer window. This draws concerns regarding the team’s prospects for promotion following key departures.
Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon and Alex Cairns signed a permanent deal with The West Yorkshire outfit this summer. Joe Rothwell and Connor Roberts are on loan from Bournemouth and Burnley respectively.
All these are important signings with some providing immediate results while others will improve squad depth. But the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Glen Kamara and Archie Gray haven’t been replaced yet.
Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray left to play in the Premier League while Glen Kamara moved to France. These three players made major contributions to the team last season where The 49ers had their shot at promotion.
The window shuts on August 30th and the club needs to work their way fast. Gaffer Daniel Farke has expressed his thoughts regarding the window amid the chaos.
“Yes, totally calm. There is no panic. We have a really good group. We can’t afford to spend a fortune, and we need quality, not just numbers.”

The German manager is very calm suggesting that there will be moves before the window shuts close. He also emphasized that the club is finding players that will fit the group which will be crucial for promotion.
Daniel Farke prioritizes full player commitment amid challenges of loan
“If you ask me which is better, I’ll always say permanent because the player is fully committed and 100% our player and we will get the reward. The loan market can be tricky.”
-Daniel Farke via BBC
The Gaffer also mentioned the fact that he’d prefer permanent deals over loan moves. The reason behind it is that the player will be fully committed to the club rather than a player who is just here for personal development.
The loan market can indeed be tricky. As Leeds United were looking for a new full-back, they stumble across Wolves’ Hugo Bueno. The 49ers were interested in the player.
Wolverhampton Wanderers were also keen on sending the Spaniard on loan so that he could gain some experience having more game time somewhere else. But Premier League’s problematic conditions caused a hindrance in the deal.
It is a common practice among Premier League clubs to agree on a set play time for loan players. As The 49ers were looking for a backup option they couldn’t guarantee it and now Hugo is set to leave for the Netherlands this season.
Conner Roberts is not on loan from Burnley. Lazy journalist. He was actually playing for Burnley against Luton on Monday night 12th August.
