It is no surprise that the pressure is on Leeds United boss Daniel Farke after recent results. What began as a promising campaign in the first few months has quickly taken a sharp turn.
Many were a bit surprised in the early weeks of the season when the Whites recorded huge results against Everton and Newcastle. The first few games showed everyone that Leeds were not going to be an easy fixture for the big clubs in the Premier League.
But since the last international break, nothing has gone right for the team. They have lost four of their last five games and are now just one point above the relegation zone.
Daniel Farke linked with shock move if he leaves Leeds United
Sources have revealed that Daniel Farke was given five games to turn the season around. But the Whites lost against Nottingham Forest just before the international break, meaning that the next four games will be very crucial. Leeds face Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool in their next four games and it is increasingly becoming difficult to see where their next points will come from.
| Club | Games Managed | Wins |
|---|---|---|
| SV Lippstadt | 146 | 42 |
| Borussia Dortmund II | 56 | 29 |
| Norwich City | 208 | 88 |
| Borussia Mönchengladbach | 36 | 12 |
| Leeds United | 116 | 64 |
Graham Smyth recently predicted that Farke could be sacked as early as the first week of December after the Liverpool game. If Leeds continue to be in poor form and the German is sacked, he has been tipped to make a shock move to another club. Adrian Clarke thinks that Farke could be back at Norwich if Leeds decide to give him the boot, to help his former club survive in the Championship:
“Daniel Farke is probably the answer to those [questions], isn’t he? You just need Leeds, maybe, to pull the trigger on Daniel Farke, and then he can come home and turn Norwich around.” he said speaking on the EFL All Access podcast.
“Because I am sure, at some stage, this season, Leeds might consider making a change.
“He would be the ideal personality to come back and sort of save this team.”
Farke might be a better fit for the Championship
When Leeds qualified for the Premier League, there were many who believed Daniel Farke would not be up to the task. Many tipped him to be sacked even in the summer. And though he had a decent start to the campaign, things have not really gone well since.
| Club | Season | Finish |
|---|---|---|
| Norwich City | 2017/18 | 14th |
| Norwich City | 2018/19 | 1st (Champions) |
| Norwich City | 2020/21 | 1st (Champions) |
| Leeds United | 2023/24 | 2nd |
| Leeds United | 2024/25 | 1st (Champions) |
If he indeed is sacked before the end of the season, a return to the Championship is not far fetched. Statistically, he has one of the best coaching records in that competition. The work he has done with Norwich and Leeds shows how good he is at that level. And maybe that is where he is supposed to be, and not coaching in the Premier League.
