Leeds United losing against Burnley put a lot of things into perspective. The match itself was a disappointment from the team; yet another game where the finishing let everyone down.
When the Whites were a goal down, they created numerous openings, including Brenden Aaronson getting a one-on-one against the keeper. But yet, the 90 minutes ended without Leeds scoring a goal. While Burnley seemed to score from out of thin air, both their goals came from rare situations where they threatened to score.
After the match it was agreed that many players failed to step up at Turf Moor. Daniel Farke was also questioned over his team selection, with many believing that he is loyal to some underperforming players.

Brenden Aaronson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were the main culprits; the American was bashed for missing a crucial chance that could have affected the final result. Calvert-Lewin on the other hand is under pressure after failing to score since the Wolves game, while squandering many chances.
Defensive pairing Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon were also singled out; the duo failed to challenge for the ball in the air for Lesley Ugochukwu’s opener. And most surprisingly, Anton Stach has also been called out, many think the German has dropped form over the last few weeks. But Daniel Farke thinks that has to do with the fact that the midfielder has been playing with hand and rib injuries:
”Overall delivered really good performances. Key player for us.
”Last two games not on the top level he’d shown before, also playing with a broken finger and a problem with his body, two or three problems you are more concentrated on yourself than to play with freedom.
”Important for him to get rid of his finger and ribs, as soon as he’s back to top physical fitness, I’m sure he’ll keep going with top performances.”
Will Anton Stach be benched against West Ham?
It may seem unlikely, but Daniel Farke has been ruthless with some of his team selections this season. If Anton Stach is not delivering, he could find himself on the bench, just like fan favourite Ao Tanaka who lost his place early in the season. Leeds need to do everything possible to get a result at Elland Road on Friday, and so expect some surprises from Farke.
