Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is focused on ensuring his players get their season back on track and ensure promotion at the end of the season. However, the Whites have already been linked with a move for several players in the summer and it was only a matter of time before the Leeds boss was going to get asked about those rumours.
Farke and his Leeds United players are scrambling hard to find answers for their recent run of poor form and ensure they return to winning ways against Luton Town on Saturday.
The recruitment team at Leeds have been identifying targets for the summer, but they cannot move for any of the players until promotion to the Premier League is secured.
The Leeds boss has seven games to ensure his side earn automatic promotion, but he has now been asked about the club’s rumoured interest in a player he has previously managed.
“He is a great footballer” – Leeds United manager speaks out about midfield linked with a move to Elland Road
Borussia Monchengladbach captain Julian Weigl has been linked with a move to Leeds in the summer if the Whites get promoted to the Premier League.
Farke managed him at Gladbach previously, and is believed to be keen to reunite with him at Elland Road ahead of next season.
However, the Leeds boss remained coy on signing Weigl, and insisted that he is a quality footballer who can improve any team in the world.
The German insisted that his focus is on his current squad at the business end of the season.
“Julian is a great footballer and person. He could enrich many teams with his qualities”, Farke told transfermarkt.de.
“However, my focus at this stage of the season is entirely on our current squad and getting the best out of the team.”
Farke didn’t deny the interest in Weigl
Leeds can ill-afford to think about the players they want to sign this summer as they are facing the threat of missing out on promotion for the second season running.
However, Leeds would need several quality players if they get promoted, and it is not surprising that they have been linked with an interest in Weigl.
