Daniel Farke provides latest injury update on £10m Leeds United ace after dramatic Everton clash – fans will be encouraged

Leeds United

James Justin was the unlikely scorer on Monday night as Leeds United played out a draw against Everton. Daniel Farke’s side got a much needed point away from home as they continue their fight for survival.

But things could have gone much different; Leeds were the better team by far in the first period and should have capitalized, but finishing let them down. A huge chance missed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin summed up the visitor’s evening at the Hill Dickinson stadium. Thierno Barry found an equalizer for the toffees late in the second half and that is how the game remained till the end.

Leeds maintain their impressive form since last month, and now have just one defeat in their last 11 games in all competitions. Simon Jordan complained on talkSport that too many draws could stifle the club’s fight for safety. The Whites have won just one game since the end of November, but during that period West Ham have failed to capitalize so there is still a  gap between the teams.

Daniel Farke provides latest injury update on £10m Leeds United man

James Justin was the only player on the scoresheet on the night. The fullback was deputizing for Gabriel Gudmundsson, who missed out on the Everton game with an injury. After the game, Daniel Farke clarified how long the Swedish international would be out:

”Little strain with adductor. Hope to have him back as quick as possible.

”Initial checks was 3-4 weeks but hope to have him back in one or two games but not more. Justin was excellent today.”

Gudmundsson has been a solid addition to the lineup this season, and has rarely missed any games. He was one of the better summer signings, costing just £10 million for a player of his quality.

Leeds depth will be key at the end of the season

It seems to have escaped many people in recent weeks, but Leeds have been achieving some amazing results with some of their best players out injured. Joe Rodon missed a few games, as well as Anton Stach. Sean Longstaff has been out for a while and is set to return soon, amidst all of these absences, players like Ilia Gruev, Sebastiaan Bornauw and James Justin have stepped up.

This shows the strength in depth the Whites have due to how well they recruited in the summer. Daniel Farke was hesitant to trust some of these players, but seeing the results first hand should convince him that they can play a part till the end of the season.
