Daniel Farke receives transfer message

Daniel Farke has been urged to address a serious issue in the Leeds United team.

Leeds have had a season filled with ups and downs. The club and the fans are in a jubilant move after they moved to the top of the Championship with a win against Swansea last weekend. Before that game, only one team had beaten the Swans at home. After 16 games, Leeds have 32 points and are joint-top of the table with Sunderland and Sheffield United.

The bad this season has mainly been due to injuries. Daniel Farke lost two key players, had his star summer signing out for a month, and his only backup defender has spent months out without kicking a ball. Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev picked up serious injuries in the first week of October, and are expected to return in January.

Daniel Farke told to address problem

Leeds boast one of the best attacks in the Championship this season, with 28 goals scored. But there is an attacking problem in the team. This season, Leeds have had to depend on Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson for goals. Outside them, no other attacker has more than three league goals. Most of this is down to the lack of creative spark in attack; in games Leeds have faced a stubborn defence, they have had it very difficult to come by goals.

Former Leeds man Dominic Matteo has urged Daniel Farke to add attackers in the January transfer window:

“A lot of Leeds people and the group that I’m involved in are saying that we just need an out-and-out striker. Someone to put the ball in the back of the net.” He said on LUTV.

“I like Mateo Joseph and the players in that area, but I genuinely still believe we need a main striker. Pat [Bamford] has done well for us, but if we had a proper striker – another one – it would strengthen us so, so much.”

Leeds could be very busy in January

Daniel Farke will push for signings in the January transfer window. Leeds are reportedly in the market for midfielders and attackers. Burnley man Josh Brownhill has been linked with a move to Elland Road. Leeds might also lose one key player as Joe Gelhardt prepares to leave the club.
