Leeds boss Daniel Farke has said that Illan Meslier will start the season as number one goalkeeper.
The German coach has stated that the French man will be in goal against Cardiff on Sunday.
Meslier came under intense criticism and was even benched towards the end of last season after a series of errors cost Leeds crucial points.
Now, Farke says Meslier will start the Championship opener on Sunday:
“I’m quite pleased at the moment, but it’s also clear that Illan will start if he stays fit for the first game”
We need competition. So as a coach you ask for options, you ask for competition, that’s what we need.
Karl came in a bit later. He is an unbelievable guy, an experienced guy who knows English football inside out. I’m happy that we have both of them. So on the goalkeeper position, at least there’s no concern or worry at all at the moment.”
