Daniel Farke reveals what was said in the dressing room at half-time against Derby County

Daniel Farke Leeds United

Daniel Farke and Leeds United had been having the perfect start to the New Year, getting two huge results against Manchester United and Liverpool. But their run was stopped against Newcastle last week.

The Magpies and Farke’s men played an incredible end to end game which ended with seven goals. It came as quite a surprise as the Whites’ previous two games only managed to produce just one goal against better opposition. The match also showed Leeds’ questionable game management; they were leading just minutes before the 90th, but managed to throw that lead away.

Goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Harvey Barnes late in stoppage time sealed the win for the home side.

Daniel Farke reveals Leeds United team talk

On Sunday in the FA Cup, the team had a game in which they could bounce back. Derby County were a Championship side, so the game seemed very winnable. However, the home side took a shock lead through Brereton Diaz. Leeds were 1-0 down at halftime, but came flying in the second half, scoring three goals to kill the game. After the match, Daniel Farke revealed what he said to his team after half time.

“I told them at half-time to stay cool, the goals will come, and all the goals were taken excellently, really good team goals and very mature performance in the second half, and I think in the end, very deserved.

“We are through to the next round,”

Leeds boss has been spot on since system shift

The half time team talk was not the only thing that pushed the team to victory; Farke made one key substitution at half time. He took of Sebastiaan Bornauw for James Justin. That change eventually sealed the game as the fullback added the third in the second half.

Farke has been better than he was earlier in the season; fans complained about him being late to make substitutions and making poor team selections. But he has gotten most of his decisions right in recent games. Bringing Brenden Aaronson back into the first team was key, as the midfielder has gone on an impressive run, scoring goals. Fans will be hoping the Leeds United boss continues to make the right decisions in their fight for survival.
