Daniel Farke sends clear message to Leeds United board – He wants quality signings

Leeds United officially sealed their place in the Premier League on Monday. After putting six goals past Stoke City, Elland Road fans rejoiced as hours later, the result between Burnley and Sheffield United confirmed promotion.

Leeds figured it out late in the season. Especially over the last month, the team almost stumbled and dropped points in the promotion race. But after a serious of decisions, Daniel Farke’s side were able to string a run of four wins together to book their place in the Premier League.

The season could have gone a much different way at multiple points of the season. When it came to transfers, it was a constant battle between Farke and the Leeds United board.

After losing key players in the summer window, Daniel Farke asked for multiple signings. He only got his wish near the end of the summer window.

In January, the Leeds boss once again asked for signings after the squad was heavily depleted due to injuries and other problems. The board reportedly restricted by PSR in the January window, and thus Farke once again had no reinforcements. The 48-year old revealed this while speaking to Sky Sports:

“We lost most of key players again and we’re working also under pretty tight restrictions,” Farke said when explained how tough the season was.

“For example, in January, I would have liked to add a few players and a bit more quality but we were not allowed to do this.

“I was a bit jealous, If I’m honest, of some other clubs but also I had to act a little bit and pretend I’m fully convinced.”

Nonetheless, Leeds managed to beat their rivals to an automatic promotion place.

“I was convinced because I love to work with this group, but it was such a difficult task and such a tight race with so many good competitors.

“Burnley was fantastic, Sheffield United was fantastic, Sunderland was on it pretty long. To finish top two is a great achievement and all the compliments go to my lads.”

Farke will get his signings this summer

Leeds know the huge task ahead of them this summer. Club Chairman Paraag Marathe even addressed the fans and assured them that he wants the club to be established in the Premier League. There is a high chance this summer that Daniel Farke will have a huge budget to work with as the club works on new signings ahead of next season.

The Whites already have a financial boost as they will receive in excess of £110million for making the Premier League.
