Daniel Farke singles out two players as Leeds return to form

Daniel Farke

After two losses, Daniel Farke finally sees the light as fans were furious over the defeat against fellow promotion club Burnley. Scott Parker’s men managed to net two against Leeds United at home despite being on the defensive side.

The tables turned against West Ham United, though, as Brenden Aaronson, who missed a sitter against the Clarets, scored within the first three minutes against Nuno’s West Ham.

Joe Rodon followed up with a header off a corner in the 15th minute as the Whites went 2-0 up in just the first third of the first half.

The Yorkshire-based outfit jumped two places as Farke’s team went from 15th to 13th place, now with 11 points to their name. The tougher challenge is yet to come, though, as Leeds United will face Brighton and Hove Albion next week.

Both Gabriel Gudmundsson and Noah Okafor couldn’t finish the game against the Hammers, and Farke will be hoping that they return by next week.

Gudmundsson was doing well at Elland Road as his attack led to the corner for the Rodon goal. The player had to be taken off, though, as the Swede left the field before half-time.

The left-back has integrated well in Farke’s system, and the Leeds gaffer wouldn’t be hoping to miss the Scandinavian left-back against Brighton. However, things weren’t very clear after the game as Farke appeared hazy regarding the situation.

Between the back and leg, seemed pretty painful”, the 48-year-old told the press. Another player taken off the left flank was Swiss left-back Noah Okafor.

This seems worse as Okafor had just returned from an injury suffered against Tottenham Hotspur. The Swiss international injured his adductor but was quickly back in action.

Farke again wasn’t sure of the seriousness as he answered with a sense of uncertainty. “Not pre-planned, but let’s see how he goes. Was a really difficult week.”

Gudmundsson and Okafor’s injury history

The last time Gudmundsson suffered an injury was in the 2022/23 season when the left-back played for Lille in France. Injuries haven’t been a frequent part of the Swede’s career in recent years, except for his time at Groningen.

However, it is important to note that the 26-year-old has been out for a minimum of 20 days whenever he went down. Okafor, on the other hand, has been a hospital regular.

The good thing about the Swiss international, though, is that it’s usually a small problem resolved within a month and a half max, except for one fracture that he had in the 2022/23 season.
