Daniel Farke sounds harsh warning over Harry Gray – says people need to be patient with Leeds United youngster

Leeds United fans will still be hurt from the events of last summer that saw two home grown talents depart Elland Road. After Daniel Farke’s side lost the playoff final, there were multiple exits during the summer window.

Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray departed to the Premier League. It came out later in the season that Gray’s sale was down to PSR issues. Both players left the club after coming up the ranks; Gray through the academy, and Summerville via the U21s when he signed from the Netherlands. Summerville ended up winning EFL Championship player of the season, while Archie Gray was named EFL Young player of the season.

Leeds fans now have another homegrown talent ready to make his mark on the first team – Harry Gray.

It is ironic that the teenager will take the same steps as his older brother. Harry is already earning rave reviews, and is highly rated in the country. The 16-year old scored as Leeds U21s won the National League Cup trophy this week. Gray is already making waves in the country, with Tottenham monitoring his current situation.

Ahead of the final game of the season, Daniel Farke had a few words for the youngster. The Leeds United boss has asked for fans to be patient with a player who could become a future star in the team:

“Sixteen years old, eight minutes of Championship football and we are speaking about the Premier League. So I would strongly recommend to calm down just because his last name is Gray it doesn’t mean he will cut the Premier League into pieces.

“He behaves himself with a bit of confidence, you could see with the celebrations. I had a little chat with him after the last celebrations.

“I told him, ‘Harry, great how you celebrate but at one point I had more or less the feeling you won the title all alone for us, so relax a little bit!’

Daniel Farke is right

Harry Gray is just 16 years old and is yet to play a full game with the first team. He is talented and has rightly earned plaudits, but like with other talents, he needs to be handled with care. Farke is experienced when it comes to this – with how he managed Archie Gray last year. So Leeds fans should trust his judgement.
