Daniel Farke to lead transfer raid of former club – Leeds United eye ‘outstanding’ winger

A lot of Leeds United fans might not know this, but Daniel Farke’s influence on this season is bigger than anyone thought. He lead the team to win the Championship, and hit 100 points on the way to promotion.

Before the season started, Leeds were slow to bring in new faces to the club. After losing Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, one would think that the club would scramble to replace them. Leeds brought in a bunch of new faces towards the end of the window.

But the main ones that stood out this season were Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon. Farke was instrumental in the duo arriving at Elland Road. Tanaka was brought in from Dusseldorf, and he immediately became one of the best midfielders in the Championship. Manor Solomon’s impact was there for everyone to see – he cemented his place in Leeds history as he scored the last minute winner to win the Championship.

When the summer window opens, Farke will have more influence in transfer dealings. Club chairman Paraag Marathe has backed the German coach, saying he will play a big part in recruitment this summer.

“If there was a player that Daniel didn’t want, we didn’t bring him in, if there was a player that didn’t fit us for other reasons, we didn’t bring him in,” Marathe said.

“And so we’re going to work in the same way.”

According to Foot Mercato, Leeds are very interested in signing Franck Honorat. Daniel Farke is a big fan of the Gladbach winger and is keen on bringing him to Elland Road. Nice and Freiburg are also said to be interested in signing the 28-year old.

Could Honorat be plan B for Manor Solomon?

There are whispers that the Frenchman could be an alternative if Leeds miss out on Manor Solomon. Keeping that in mind, the club could also use him for depth. Going into the Premier League, you need as much quality as you can get.

Honorat had four goals and seven assists in 17 games in the Bundesliga this season. Adding him would be a huge boost for Leeds United’s attack.
