Leeds United went back to the top of the league after a huge victory on Wednesday night.
After a positive win against Swansea City on the weekend, Leeds came into this game full of confidence. There was a bit of pressure on, as their rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United had already played on Tuesday night. It took a late winner from Wilfried Gnonto on Sunday, but the game against Luton was a whole different match.
Leeds dominated Luton at Elland Road for most of the game. The only scare Luton gave Leeds was when Pascal Struijk made a goal line clearance early in the game. Sam Byram scored 10 minutes into the game, and Joe Piroe scored his seventh goal of the season to give Leeds a 2-0 lead into half time. The second half was more slow, but Daniel James sealed the game in the 81st minute.

Calls for Leeds United star to be axed
There was a bit of controversy as Daniel Farke chose to bring on Mateo Joseph instead of Patrick Bamford when Leeds had seen out most of the game. A lot of people had things to say regarding Bamford and his role in the team going forward.
On Sunday, Daniel Farke handed Manor Solomon a rare start. The Spurs loanee delivered as he scored a brace against Swansea. But the forward’s performance midweek against Luton Town was less than impressive. Solomon was not able to continue his scoring streak, and even put a great chance over the cross bar late in the game. When he was subbed off, Daniel James came on to score the goal that put the game to bed. James was on the pitch for just over 12 minutes and delivered the impact and dynamism Solomon could not provide.
Earlier this season, Manor Solomon struggled to make the starting lineup even after his impressive debut. Going into the middle of the season, it does not look like the Spurs loanee will be first choice. Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James are in fantastic form and could keep Solomon out of the team for a while.
Should Solomon be dropped from the lineup?
Calls for Solomon to be dropped over just one game are uncalled for. He showed his quality with the brace against Swansea. But purely based on form, he is behind James and Gnonto. Regardless, with the upcoming schedule, all of Leeds United forwards will have playing time as Daniel Farke is certain to rotate the team. The only player who might be left out is Joe Gelhardt, who is set to leave in January.
