Leeds United winger Dan James picked up an injury, and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks. This news comes at a bad time for the club, who have been juggling a few knocks in camp.
A Leeds spokesperson gave an official update of the status of the Welsh international: “Daniel James has an ankle issue which is currently undergoing assessment. Any absence is not expected to be long-term and Leeds United manager Daniel Farke will provide a full update during Thursday’s press conference.”
James has been dealing with injuries since the international break. It was the reason he was left on the bench for the Fulham game, but unfortunately he aggravated his injury when he came on later in the game.

Wilfried Gnonto is not fully fit yet after dealing with injury issues of his own, and now that James is now on the shelf, Leeds’ depth is very questionable. Brenden Aaronson has now taken the role on the right flank, with Noah Okafor on the opposite flank. With James out and Gnonto unavailable yet, that leaves Jack Harrison on the bench.
Daniel Farke made the decision to reintegrate the winger into the team in the summer. The Leeds boss pointed out that his experience at this level would be vital for the team. But six games in, Harrison has only featured in five matches, playing a total of 107 minutes. The winger is yet to start a game under Daniel Farke this season. Harrison has not scored a goal or even created a big chance yet.
Last season on loan at Everton, he scored just one goal in 34 games.
Was keeping Jack Harrison a mistake?
Considering that Leeds loaned out both Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani to keep Jack Harrison, questions have to be asked about Daniel Farke. The club no longer have an electric option off the bench who can provide a serious goal threat during games.
Without Dan James for the next few games, Harrison will have a bigger burden on his shoulders whenever he comes on the pitch.
